At our June 1Oth meeting it was decided to cancel our 4th of July
Bar-B-Que this year due to several factors: low attendance (60 dinners
last Year), loss of revenue (no breakfast), and the Village of Tequesta
having their 1st July 4th celebration. We will continue to have the
Bar-B-Que next year.
We had another great turnout at Riverside Memorial Park for our
Memorial Day Ceremony. It was nice to see so many community
representatives in attendance. Our Memorial Day Address was given by
retired Major General Wayne P. Jackson and our 62nd Year of Observance
Dedication was given by Roy Rood our 1st Post Commander "Great Job Roy".
Also for the 1st time we had the Palm Beach Pipe and Drum Band to start
the Parade followed by our Post Color Guard and Post Sea Cadets. They
all looked sharp. I would like to thank 2nd Vice Wayne Miller, John Krop
and Vic Carpenter for placing all the crosses on the center aisle at the
cemetery. Chef Tom and the Color Guard put on another great Bar-B-Que
(150 dinners sold). I would be remiss if I didn't thank S.A.L. member
Duke Peterson for getting the fire started and cooking the chicken so
the Color Guard would have everything ready upon returning from the
cemetery .Thanks again Duke.
The Post had its election of officer's at our June 1Oth meeting
and the new officer's will be listed on page two of the newsletter.
Our 300 club party will be on July 17th 3 pm -7 pm, new tickets
will be on sale that day.
