Legionnaires:
The
Memorial Day ceremony that was put on by our Post at Riverside Memorial Park
was the best one yet. The Post
received many phone calls praising the service as did Riverside Memorial.
Several people who were in attendance were so inspired that they joined
the Legion afterward. Our Post
Color Guard looked sharp and received many compliments.
The
Memorial Day Bar-B-Que put on by the Post Color Guard was well attended and a
good time was had by all. A tip of the hat to our chef Bruce Blumenstein and all the
volunteers who helped make this day so successful.
Our
election of officers took place at our June 12th meeting.
The new officers are listed on page 2 of this newsletter.
The
Legion Convention is scheduled for July 17, 18, 19 and 20th. There
will be no lunch on Thursday July 17th or Friday July 18th
and no dinner on July 19th or breakfast on July 20th.
Lunch will start again on Tuesday July 22nd.
Our
300 Club party is scheduled for July 26th 3PM-7PM.
New tickets will go on sale that day.
I would like to congratulate Ladies Auxiliary President Becky O’Berry on her re-election
and
I also offer my congratulations to new S.A.L. Commander Vic Carpenter.
I’m sure you will both have a very good year.
Also, I would like to thank outgoing S.A.L. Commander, George Rifenburg
for a job well done and wish him good luck in his new position as Southern
Area Commander of the S.A.L.
Don’t forget the Sea Cadets will be putting on our 4th of July Bar-B-Que. All you can eat for $8.00.
If
anyone can help out calling bingo on Sunday night, contact me or Bingo
Chairman Dom DeFilippi at 747-8121.
If
anyone is interested in joining the Post Color Guard, contact Andy Heric at
741-4616.
Remember volunteers are the backbone of any Post.
For the Legion
