 Legionnaires,

The Post Officers and I would like to offer everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We had a great turnout for our Veteran’s Day ceremony at the Post on November 11th.  Our Post Judge Advocate, Congressman Tom Rooney was on hand and gave a short speech.  The ceremony was well covered by the local news media.

The Jupiter/Tequesta Christmas Parade will be held on December 14th at 1PM this year.  Our Post Color Guard will be leading off the parade, so come on out and cheer them on.

The Post Christmas Party will be held on Saturday December 20th at 8PM.  If you wish to receive a gift, you must bring a gift for the same gender.

Our early bird membership drawing was held on November 16th and the following 10 members will not have to pay their dues for 2010:  Walter Mello, John S. Sohalski, Harold A. Bell, Joseph J. Ulman, Jr., Barbara L. Wirth, William H. Collins, George J. Vilardi, Ralph J. Castriotta, Herbert R. Teatom and Jimmy Josko.  Congratulations and thank you for paying your dues early.

VA personnel gave out free flu shots at the Post on November 15th from 9AM to 11AM.  There was a light turnout (35 – 40 people) and hopefully they’ll be a bigger turnout next year.

Our donations since the last newsletter are as follows:  $750 for the migrant children’s Christmas Party at Don Carter Lanes.  The Jupiter Police Department also donates the same amount for this yearly event.  Also, $200 to the Hardin family.  Their son Kevin will be released from Walter Reed Hospital for Thanksgiving after having over 25 surgeries on injuries he received while serving in Iraq.

The Ladies Auxiliary will be putting on a New Year’s Eve Party on Wednesday. December 31, 2008.  The cost is $40.00 per person which includes dinner, music and open bar.

The Ladies will also be having a Texas Hold ‘um and Black Jack Tournament on December 16th at 7PM.  Come on down and support both these fund raisers.
