Travel Tip for Golfers
The following is a stopover treat for the Golfers of the Armenian
Legion.
Close to St. Augustine, Florida and almost on Route 95 is the home of
PGA’s Golfing Hall of fame (about three and a half hours from here).
The grounds and buildings are beautiful. The collection of golf
memorabilia is extensive and covers the era from before golf was officially
recognized at St. Andrews in Scotland and has equipment dating from before the
1500's and forward to the present time.
There are separate rooms dedicated to those men and women who made a
meaningful contribution to the game - including Old Tom Morris, Bobby Jones,
Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Mickey Wright, Tiger Woods, Eisenhower to name a
few. Also, there is a separate room for Bob Hope, our official Ambassador to
Golf who went around the world to bring Christmas cheer to the troops Oversea
for years.
There are TV monitors all over the three floors, giving the golfers
highlights and accomplishments. There are trophies from all of the Majors and a
wall for all of the member's of the Hall of Fame and why they were honored.
The above is only a taste of what you will see there. But, here is the best part of this which came as a surprise to me. If you are a member of the Service or a Veteran of the Military the cost of admission for you and your family is FREE. You only have to show your American Legion card. Don't miss it.
